Market
Tesla's models again performed very well in the monthly comparison.

The delivery problems experienced by some manufacturers in the previous year as a result of the switch to the new WLTP test cycle do not appear to be repeating themselves with the new emissions standards. Since the beginning of the year, 252,413 passenger cars have been registered for the first time, an increase of 1.7 percent compared to 2018.

Christoph Wolnik, media spokesman for the auto-schweiz importers' association: "We are noticeably approaching an exciting year-end spurt. From the customer's point of view, there are currently many interesting offers, especially for stock vehicles. Many brands would like to make room for new products coming to Switzerland at the beginning of next year."

Hybrid diesel in particular demand
Alternative drive systems accounted for a high 13.5 percent of the market in October. Cumulatively since the beginning of the year, they account for 11.8 percent of all new passenger cars.

All the corresponding drive types have now at least reached their previous year's level of new registrations, and in some cases have significantly exceeded it. The number of new gas cars is up by 37.0 percent, hybrid gasoline by 39.3 percent, electric cars by 145.5 percent and hybrid diesel by a remarkable 439.5 percent.

Good sales of light commercial vehicles
A comparable situation prevails for light commercial vehicles. After 33,000 redemptions this year, the market could cool slightly next year, with 32,000 new delivery vans and light semitrailer trucks then still on the roads. The reasons for the expected market declines lie in the foreseeable economic development and lower CO2 target values.
