Show car Mercedes-AMG Project ONE: two-seater super sports car with Formula 1 hybrid technology

The eleventh edition of the Laureus Charity Night was held under a very special star. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Mercedes-AMG, Mercedes-Benz Schweiz AG donated the option to buy a Mercedes-AMG Project ONE super sports car as the auction highlight. It was auctioned off for a dizzying 2,106,000 Swiss francs. Another 200,000 Swiss francs were raised by a unique piece from the renowned watch manufacturer IWC Schaffhausen. "The purchase option for Project ONE was a perfect fit for Charity Night 2017″, explains Marc Langenbrinck, CEO Mercedes-Benz Switzerland, and adds: "Only 275 vehicles are to be produced worldwide and tonight was one of the last opportunities to secure such a gem. The Laureus Foundation is Daimler's biggest social commitment. That's why it makes me all the more proud that we have raised a historic record sum for children and young people for upcoming projects."

With the auction of the Portugieser Tourbillon Rétrograde Chronograph Edition "Laureus Sport for Good Foundation", another substantial donation was made to the foundation with the help of IWC Schaffhausen.

A "let's get ready to rumble" for a shared vision
The fundraising gala was hosted for the first time by Rainer Maria Salzgeber together with daughter Chloé. Also on stage or in the boxing ring was the best-known announcer of boxing matches, Michael Buffer. With his legendary "Let's get ready to rumble" he heated up the audience. At this year's Charity Night, numerous national and international personalities from the worlds of sport, business, politics and society were once again committed to the shared vision of using sport to make a positive difference to the lives of children and young people in Switzerland. Among them were Laureus representatives such as David Coulthard, Edwin Moses, Fabian Cancellara and soccer legend Cafu.

Musical highlights were provided by the Swiss band Pegasus and Baschi, who performed the 2016 anniversary song again together with the Laureus children.

The Laureus Foundation
The Laureus Foundation Switzerland was founded in 2006 by Mercedes-Benz Switzerland and IWC Schaffhausen as an offshoot of the international Laureus Sports for Good Foundation. The aim of the Laureus Foundation is to enable as many socially, economically and physically disadvantaged children and young people in Switzerland as possible to lead a positive life with the help of sport. The focus is not only on performance, but on the joy of movement and joint activity. Laureus supports more than 10,000 children in Switzerland every year in four social sports projects. The Laureus Charity Night is the most important fundraising event for the foundation and has been held every fall since 2007.
