KW Automotive: More range through lowering?

FAHRWERK-TUNING Aftermarket companies such as suspension manufacturer KW Automotive are also benefiting from the ongoing electric car boom. Two new coilover suspensions are now available for the Cupra Born.

With the new coilovers for electric cars, lowering by up to 45 millimeters is possible.

More and more people are buying an electric car. KW Automotive, the suspension manufacturer specializing in the aftermarket, also wants to benefit from this boom. That is why KW is now also developing coilovers for electric vehicles.

The manually adjustable V3 coilover suspension and the adaptive DDC plug&play coilover suspension are now available for the new Cupra Born.

Lowering is possible up to 45 millimeters
Within the scope of the parts certificate, the Born can be lowered by 20 to 45 millimeters with the height-adjustable coilovers. While the KW V3 can be tuned manually in terms of damping, the DDC plug&play with its electric damper control is recommended for all Born models that have the optional DCC standard chassis control.

KW Brand Manager Florian Johann: "Since our DDC suspensions are compatible with the DCC damper control used by the VAG Group, the various driving modes that influence damping can still be used. The less unsteadiness in the body structure, the less the ESP has to regulate, for example."

Chassis damper with multi-valve technology
In KW's best-selling aftermarket suspension, the coilover version 3, the dampers differ from conventional suspension dampers in that KW uses multi-valve technology. This means that the damping of the suspension can be adjusted individually by hand.

Florian Johann: "The more harmoniously an electric car is damped, the sooner the range can also benefit. In the Tesla Model 3, for example, specialists achieved an increase of seven percent in this area by installing our coilover suspension."
