On-board electronics control damping modes
The special feature of the DDC for the G 63 is that the dampers are based on the displacement piston principle and each uses its own proportional valve for the compression and rebound stages.
The KW DDC coilover suspension is detected by the onboard electronics and the adaptive damping has "Comfort", "Sport" and "Sport+" modes, which are selected from the cockpit via Dynamic Select and give the vehicle an adapted character as desired at the touch of a button.
In "Comfort" mode, long highway journeys are much more relaxed, while in "Sport+" mode the 2.5-tonner becomes much more agile and zips through tight corners with ease.
Lowering on all suspension struts
On the Mercedes-AMG G 63, the continuously variable lowering will be adjusted on all four suspension struts. On the front axle, the tested adjustment range according to the parts certificate is zero to 30 millimeters, on the rear axle five to 30 millimeters.
