Air conditioner
Many garage businesses offer air conditioning maintenance at a special rate.

If the car has been standing in the blazing sun, some people quickly start the engine and set the regulator of the air conditioner to maximum power.

But: this method costs a lot of fuel, and secondly, you easily catch a cold. It is better to first open the windows and ventilate well.

Do not point air vents at the body
If it starts, the windows should be closed and the air conditioner set to recirculation mode. It is recommended that the temperature is not too cold. For manually controlled systems, the knob should be in the middle, and for automatic air conditioning - 22 degrees.

It is not advisable that the air vents are directed directly at the body. However, they should all remain open, otherwise there will be all the more drafts from the open ones. When the temperature is within a comfortable range after a few minutes, the recirculation function can be turned off again.

Replacing the cabin air filter
But what if the air conditioner doesn't perform as well as usual or even smells?

The first step, which can usually be remedied by the customer in many cars, is to replace the cabin air filter. If that doesn't bring about a significant improvement, it should go to the workshop for maintenance.

Approximately ten percent of the refrigerant is lost per year, which is why a specialist company should drain and refill the system and replace the filter dryer about every two years.

Unpleasant odors despite pollen filter
If foul odors persist despite the new pollen filter, the workshop should also clean and disinfect the evaporator of the air conditioning system. Mold and other growths may have formed on it, which can also be harmful to health.

In the case of frequent short-distance travel, the cooling effect of the air conditioning system should be switched off five minutes before the end of the journey so that the fan dries the evaporator and no breeding ground for fungus can form.
