As part of the further development of the concept study into a production vehicle, the GT Concept was renamed Stinger. The name is derived from the English word for stinger (sting) was already used in the GT4 Stinger concept study, which Kia presented at the 2014 North American International Auto Show.
In Europe, the Stinger will be offered with three engine variants: a 2.0-liter turbo petrol engine (193 kW/255 hp), a powerful 3.3-liter V6 biturbo engine (276 kW/370 hp) and the announced 2.2-liter turbo diesel engine with 149 kW (202 hp).
Production is scheduled to begin in the second half of the year, with sales starting at the end of 2017. Prices will be announced before sales begin.
