Kia: First seat test in the EV6 power Stromer 🎥
THERE'S A THING Electric mobility comes with the accelerator pedal depressed. Now Kia is showing what's possible with the EV6. While the entry-level model comes with rear-wheel drive and 125 kW (170 hp), the all-wheel drive version offers 173 (235 hp). In a show race, the Kia EV6 GT with 584 hp demonstrates how it can keep up with more sporty competitors.
With a larger battery and adapted drivetrain, the outputs are 168 kW (229 hp) with rear-wheel drive and 239 kW (325 hp) with all-wheel drive. The top model, the GT, even puts an incredible 430 kW (584 hp) on the road. Not even German premium manufacturers offer such a wide range.
Batteries are designed for 800 volt charging
In the top version, the Kia EV6 is supposed to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds and run at up to 260 km/h. This is actually already poaching the realms of a Porsche Taycan Turbo. That actually puts it in the realm of a Porsche Taycan Turbo.
Kia is clearly following Tesla's strategy of increasing the fascination for e-drive via engine performance, even in affordable segments. The batteries are designed for 800-volt charging so that up to 500 kilometers of cycle range can be squeezed into the car in a relatively short time.
Luggage compartment holds up to 520 or 1300 liters
Ample space in the generous interior is provided by a 2.90 meter wheelbase, the luggage compartment holds 520 to 1300 liters and there is also a front trunk. Unlike other brands, Kia has taken the trouble to enlarge it again for the rear-wheel-drive variant.
A wide dashboard with clearly recognizable information stretches out in front of the driver and front passenger, and the car is steered with an elegant two-spoke console - when the car is not steering itself. The Kia EV6 should also drive itself smoothly on the highway - naturally under the watchful eye of the driver and with his hand on the steering wheel.
Enough space for the occupants in all seats
Front and rear passengers with over a 1.80 meter height have enough space for their legs, the new platform makes it possible. I liked the free-floating center console under which there is plenty of room for bottles and odds and ends.
The fact that you can easily reach all important controls at the front with your fingertips without having to lift your hand from the console contributes a lot to safety.
Vehicle-to-load with special load control unit
During outdoor activities, the EV6 can also be used as a mobile power source. This is because its integrated charge control unit includes a "vehicle-to-load" function. It enables power of up to 3.6 kW to be drawn from the vehicle battery.
For this purpose, the charging port of the EV6 is converted into a power socket by a simple adapter (gallery on the left).
This power outlet can be used to operate household appliances as well as charge other electric cars or bikes. In addition, there is a 230-volt socket in the interior underneath the center rear seat that can be used to charge a laptop, for example, without an additional adapter.
Features fit into the modern middle class
At just under 4.70 meters long, 1.89 meters wide and 1.55 meters high, the Kia EV6 fits seamlessly into the phalanx of the modern mid-size class. Its features, however, rise far above that.
The EV6 will be launched on the Swiss market in the fall - at prices starting at 49,950 Swiss francs.

P.S.: Driver and front passenger enjoy the comfort of special relaxation seats (equipment-dependent). They can be moved into a comfortable reclining position at the touch of a button and can be used for relaxing breaks during parking or charging stops. I'm already looking forward to the first drive in the EV6 when the battery is charged and I can relax.
