Jaguar: Icy test with I-Pace eTrophy 🎥

As part of the kick-off to the 2018/19 Formula E season last December, the Jaguar I-Pace eTrophy made its debut at the first electric one-make cup in warm Saudi Arabia. A test at Jaguar Land Rover's test track in Arjeplog, Sweden, located in the Arctic Circle, proved that it also works in freezing temperatures.

Where customers at the Jaguar Land Rover Ice Academy get extreme experience in freezing temperatures, Jaguar factory driver Nelson Piquet Jr. got behind the wheel of an I-Pace eTrophy. The thermometer showed 40 degrees below zero - ten degrees colder than is acceptable for conventional electric vehicles.

Test passed
The electric drive and battery system of the electric racing touring car - the same as in the standard I-Pace - worked flawlessly, as did the outdoor Terra 53 50kW fast charging station from ABB. Piquet had fun with it, as the video shows.

Nelson Piquet: "Cruising around on a frozen lake and experiencing the performance of this race car in extreme conditions is something I'll never forget."
