The initiative "For fair transport funding" demands that road users' taxes be used specifically for road infrastructure in future. Today, half of the petroleum tax revenue seeps into the general federal coffers. A large proportion of the road tax is misappropriated. The federal government levies around 83 centimes tax on every liter of petrol - that is around 60 % of the current petrol price. In future, the entire revenue from the mineral oil tax is to be used for road infrastructure. This amounts to an additional CHF 1.5 billion per year. francs a year.
The road is the most important mode of transportation
Over 75 percent of passenger traffic and 60 percent of freight traffic is carried by road. All road users depend on smooth traffic flows and safe roads. The cantons, municipalities and public transport also benefit from fair transport funding.
The initiative "For fair transport funding" ensures that the necessary financial resources for the elimination of bottlenecks, maintenance and the construction of important bypasses and access roads are used correctly. Everyone benefits from the initiative - from pedestrians to truck drivers!
Therefore YES on June 5 to the initiative "For fair transport funding"!
