In discussion: Energy and transport issues
ENERGY INFRASTRUCTURE At the panel discussion at Kenny's Auto-Center, Federal Councillor Albert Rösti spoke about the future of Swiss energy and transport policy, a discussion that has far-reaching consequences for the national infrastructure.

During his appearance at the "Nebelspalter" podium in Dietlikon, which took place at Kenny's Auto-Center on 3 May, Albert Rösti, member of the SVP and current Federal Councillor, had a lively discussion about the need to strengthen Switzerland's energy infrastructure, particularly in view of the upcoming referendum on the Electricity Act and the expansion of the freeways. "Even in my younger years, when I was just twenty, there were discussions about raising the Grimsel dam - and in the end it was never realized because of a few fir trees," explained Rösti.
During the well-attended evening, in which the hall was filled to capacity, the topics of transport and energy policy were brought to the fore. The interest shown by those present demonstrated the urgency and topicality of the issue.
Innovations in transport policy
The dialog between Rösti and the editor-in-chief of the "Nebelspalter", Markus Somm, flowed seamlessly into the topic of traffic. Rösti emphasized how critical the current situation is: "The congestion on our freeways is not just a question of comfort, but also an economic necessity. Without expansion, we are on the brink of collapse."
At the end of the evening, the Federal Councillor was presented with a caricature showing him in a pensive pose.
Rösti commented on the artwork with a touch of self-irony: "That's the tragedy of caricatures: you think I don't look like that, but you still recognize yourself."
This memorable evening at Kenny's Auto Center once again underlined the importance of forward-looking policies and the immediate challenges facing Switzerland.
