Kia has taken specific European operating conditions and customer requirements into account in the development of the new Sportage. The wheelbase has been increased and the body dimensions and proportions have been adapted to European conditions. As a result, there is now significantly more cargo capacity as well as shoulder and legroom compared with the predecessor.
Also on offer for the first time as a plug-in hybrid
The European Sportage is available with state-of-the-art gasoline engines or, for the first time, as a plug-in hybrid. The PHEV version combines the 1.6-liter turbo gasoline engine with a 66.9-kW permanent magnet electric motor and a 13.8-kWh lithium-ion polymer battery. This powertrain delivers a system output of 195 kW (265 hp). In the HEV model, the gasoline engine is paired with a 44.2-kW e-motor and a 1.49-kWh battery pack, resulting in a system output of 169 kW (230 hp). Mild hybrid (MHEV) power options are available at 150 or 180 hp. A 7-speed dual-clutch transmission is standard, but a 6-speed manual transmission is also available.
Automatically coptimal drive in any environment
Terrain Mode is used for the first time in the fifth generation. Developed for off-road enthusiasts, this function automatically adjusts the vehicle settings to provide optimum traction and driving dynamics on any surface. The electronic chassis tuning also guarantees optimum comfort and plenty of safety at all times. All-wheel drive ensures that engine power is optimally distributed between the axles. Depending on the specification and model, the Spotage is on 17-, 18- or 19-inch wheels.
Visitors will find Kia at Odeonsplatz. The Swiss market launch is scheduled for early 2022; there are no price details yet.
