At the heart of the new Continental GT is a completely revised and improved version of the proven W12 TSI engine with 6.0 liters of displacement and twin turbocharging. For the first time, it is coupled with an eight-speed dual transmission, enabling faster gear changes.
Adaptive chassis
An enhanced adaptive suspension features Bentley's 48-volt Dynamic Ride System, which the manufacturer says can deliver responsive ride and handling as well as refinement in all road conditions. The new system controls ride comfort and counteracts side lean forces.
World premiere
The new Continental GT celebrates its world premiere at the IAA in Frankfurt. The completely redesigned body and new materials save more than 80 kg compared with the previous Continental W12 body. The Continental GT is the first production vehicle to have an entire body side manufactured using aluminum superforming. The side profile appears longer and lower due to the new positioning of the front wheels: by moving them forward by 135 mm, the hood can be extended and the nose pulled down.
Interior
The interior of the Continental GT features new surfaces with a luxurious feel. In some places, the classic mechanical corrugation has been replaced by cushion-shaped corrugation.
Engine
The new powerplant is equipped with the very latest engine management technology, capable of 300 million computing steps per second. With 635 hp and 900 Nm of torque, the new Continental GT accelerates to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds and on to a top speed of 333 km/h (factory figures). The new engine features an automatic start-stop system.Under certain conditions, Bentley's cylinder deactivation system shuts down one half of the engine. The dual-clutch transmission with eight gears ensures superior acceleration and fast gear changes.
