But the all-electric new Nissan Leaf offers even more than "just" sustainable mobility. It will be the first model from the Japanese manufacturer to enable partially automated driving in Europe.
Progress
According to the manufacturer, the new Nissan Leaf impresses with an improved range and a range of driving assistance systems such as the "ProPILOT" or with simple operation via the e-pedal. According to the supplier, the new version of the model scores points not only for its technology, but also for its design. Clear and robust lines are reminiscent of a high-tech device, according to the supplier. The front section picks up on the typical wide V-shaped brand grille - with one change: The brand logo has a shimmering blue background and becomes the new identifying feature for Nissan electric vehicles.
Blue dominates
The signature vibrant blue stitching, a hallmark of Nissan's electric vehicles, is immediately visible on the seats, dashboard and steering wheel as well. The layout of the new 7-inch color display has been revised to make key functions such as charging status, power indicator, and audio and navigation information easier to see.
Nissan Intelligent Mobility Vision
With this vision, the automaker wants to give the car more utility instead of just being a means of transportation. The electric powertrain in the Leaf is designed to guarantee more dynamic performance thanks to improved energy efficiency and increased turning and driving power. Thanks to its 40 kWh battery, the new model enables a range of up to 378 kilometers (factory specification according to NEDC driving cycle). Torque has been increased to 320 Nm.
Innovations
The "ProPILOT" ensures easy and relaxed driving in single-lane highway traffic and revolutionizes parking. Once activated, the system takes over the complete parking maneuver: steering, braking, accelerating and guiding the vehicle into a parking space. Add to this the new e-pedal: the driver starts, accelerates, brakes, stops and holds the vehicle with the same pedal. When the accelerator pedal is released, the brakes automatically kick in and bring the car to a halt. In certain traffic situations, however, the conventional brake pedal must continue to be depressed.
Order from October
The new Leaf can be ordered by customers and interested parties from Swiss Nissan dealers from October - prices are not yet known. The new Nissan Leaf will be launched on the Swiss market in January 2018.
