The new owner is acquiring all shares in Smart France. The takeover is apparently also linked to job security.
The Smart Fortwo EQ will initially continue to be built in Hambach. How long is open.
The British chemicals group Ineos is planning to produce the Grenadier off-road vehicle, which is visually based on the Land Rover Defender, at the former Smart plant.
Implement with 3500 kilos towing capacity
After all, the Grenadier can hook up to a towing capacity of 3500 kilograms. When developing the specifications, not only off-road enthusiasts were considered, but also those who live in rough and inaccessible areas and use the Grenadier as a work tool.
And it also needs a simple design to solve problems independently. Therefore, the left and right front and rear lights are the same, which reduces production costs and makes them easier to find.
Millions of kilometers with prototypes
The Ineos Grenadier is available with both a five-door body and a pick-up version... There is still more than a year to go before the official presentation, and in the meantime the testers from the British company intend to cover almost two million kilometers with prototypes to test the off-roader under all possible conditions. One can be curious.
