Transmissions: ZF TraXon celebrates proud anniversary
The ZF Commercial Vehicle Solutions division has reached an important milestone. Since the start of production in 2014, as many as 500,000 units of the ZF TraXon have been manufactured at the main plant in Friedrichshafen alone.
The automatic transmission for commercial vehicles is one of the most successful products in the classic Group portfolio. Traxon is produced at the Friedrichshafen site, in Jiaxing (China) and, more recently, in Sorocaba, Brazil.
Consumption and quality of processing
The benefits of the transmission system include top-notch efficiency of up to 99.7 percent, minimized fuel consumption and quality workmanship.
In addition, Traxon has a shift strategy (PreVision GPS) that links the transmission to the vehicle's positioning.
Adaptation to the topography of the road
This allows Traxon to optimally adapt shift timing to the topography of the road, which increases the longevity of the system. With the option for predictive maintenance, the transmission also scores points for efficiency.
Compared to manual transmissions, Traxon can thus reduce consumption by up to eight percent.
