With the first M Performance TwinPower Turbo twelve-cylinder gasoline engine, it puts 600 hp on the road. A visible sign of the technology transfer is the iPerformance designation, which all BMW plug-in hybrid vehicles will receive from July 2016. It will make its debut in the plug-in hybrid models of the new BMW 7 Series, for example in the BMW 740e iPerformance. Technically, the iPerformance models benefit from the transfer of know-how in electric motors, battery cells and control electronics.

The typical BMW M Performance character is also evident in the interior. The M leather steering wheel bears the M logo, multifunction buttons in pearlescent chrome on the steering wheel spokes and shift paddles on the back for manual gear selection. Door sill trims with illuminated V12 logo give a foretaste of the driving pleasure to be expected.
