What happens after the apprenticeship? This is a question that thousands of apprentices in the automotive industry ask themselves every year. With the "FutureDay", which already took place for the seventh time, the Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH) and the professional associations supporting the event, first and foremost the Auto Gewerbe Verband Schweiz (AGVS), help the young men and women to shape their future.
Background knowledge and demonstrations
The event was aimed at apprentices with four-year apprenticeships who are nearing the end of their third year of training. As every year, the automotive mechatronics technicians made up the largest group of participants. Here, background knowledge was combined with interesting demonstrations. In the "Techspots", experts provided information on the topics "Powertrain", "Safety" and "New Technologies and Vehicle Construction". The "Infospots", in which the apprentices received information about the training and further education program of the participating professional associations as well as the BFH itself, also met with great interest. "For the AGVS, it is important to show apprentices the development and career opportunities in the automotive industry at an early stage," explained Olivier Maeder, AGVS Managing Director.
Numerous professional associations on board
In addition to the AGVS, the event was also supported by the Swiss Agricultural Machinery Association (Agrotec Suisse), the Swiss Carrosserie Association (VSCI), the Swiss Two-Wheeler Trade Association (2rad Schweiz), the Association of Vocational School Teachers of Automotive Technology (SVBA) and the Association of Agricultural Machinery, Motor Equipment and Construction Machinery Mechanics (SLMBV).
