The first customer is Penske Truck Leasing Corporation in Los Angeles. The company will use the e-truck in local distribution transport in the northwestern U.S. and California. Over the next year, Penske will receive ten more e-M2s as well as ten Freightliner e-Cascadias for heavy distribution transport.
Ranges are right for the transport business
Series production of the electric Freightliner is planned from 2021. The e-M2 has a range of around 370 kilometers. Within 60 minutes, the batteries can be charged to around 80 percent, providing 325 kWh for up to 480 hp.
The Freightliner e-Cascadia is expected to have 730 hp when series production starts. The batteries provide 550 kWh of energy for a range of up to 400 kilometers and can be recharged to around 80 percent within 90 minutes to cover a further 320 kilometers.
