The Ford Fiesta is celebrating success this spring and was even the best-selling car in Europe in March. This is the result of an analysis of industry data. In Germany, for example, it replaced the best-selling VW Golf in the new registration statistics this month.
Upscale equipment particularly in demand
Nearly 70 percent of Ford Fiesta sales in March were upscale models, including 17 percent in the highest trim level, "Titanium." "The Ford Fiesta accounts for twelve percent of our total vehicle sales and was once again our best-seller in March. Customers continue to appreciate the distinctive character of this stylish small car, as well as its engines that are as powerful as they are economical - and, of course, the driving pleasure it offers," said Roelant de Waard, Vice President, Marketing, Sales and Service, Ford of Europe.
Spain far ahead
Of the five largest markets in Europe - Germany, the UK, France, Italy and Spain - Spain recorded the strongest growth in Fiesta sales in March, with sales up 97 percent year-on-year. However, the number of newly registered Ford Fiestas also increased significantly in Hungary, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Romania, Switzerland and the Netherlands.
The new one is already in the starting blocks
The enhanced new Ford Fiesta will be available in dealerships from the summer of this year. The latest generation will be available in a number of different versions, including an elegant equipment variant, a sporty ST Line, an avant-garde Titanium and an Active crossover model. The new Ford Fiesta will again be available as a three- and five-door model and is the first Ford to feature Pre-Collision Assist with pedestrian detection (also at night) and Active Parking Assist with brake intervention.
Large selection
The new Ford Fiesta offers a wide choice of engines, including the multiple award-winning 1.0-liter EcoBoost three-cylinder with 74 kW/100 hp, 92 kW/125 hp and 103 kW/140 hp. In combination with the new six-speed manual transmission, the downsized unit in the 74 kW version makes do with CO2 emissions of 97 g/km (combined)1. A six-speed automatic is optionally available for the 100 hp version, which can be operated in manual mode via shift paddles on the steering wheel. On the diesel side, the 1.5-liter TDCi engine in the new Ford Fiesta offers an output of 63 kW/85 hp. In the more powerful variant, the engine delivers 88 kW/120 hp. A 1.5-liter EcoBoost gasoline engine is expected to follow in spring 2018.
