The cryptocurrency accepted by various online marketplaces plays an important role. The Fiat app can be used to check account balances and monitor personal driving style using eco:Score.
Drivers with the best eco:Score receive rewards such as vouchers from Amazon, Apple, Netflix, Spotify or Zalando.
Joint development of Kiri and Stellantis
Kiri is the Japanese name for bluebell tree, a plant that absorbs about ten times more carbon dioxide (CO2) than any other plant. One hectare of it offsets about 30 tons of CO2 per year, which is roughly equivalent to the emissions of 30 cars.
Kiri is also the name of a project developed by British green tech startup Kiri Technologies together with the e-mobility team at Stellantis for the new Fiat 500.
Environmentally conscious driving to be promoted
The basic idea behind the project is to reward owners of a new Fiat 500 for an environmentally conscious driving style - a unique model in the automotive industry to date.
Gabriele Catacchio: "The infotainment system the driving behavior, whereby Kiri-Coins are collected in a virtual wallet. The number is displayed in the Fiat app. Data from each trip, including distance and speed, is uploaded to the cloud and converted into Kiri-Coins using an algorithm developed by Kiri."
The credit can be used to purchase products and services on the digital marketplace. With a mileage of 10,000 kilometers per year in the city, an equivalent value of around 150 euros is collected on average.
