Every year, the Family Business Award honors a Swiss family business with particularly sustainable corporate management. This year's finalists were Metzler & Co. AG from Balgach (SG), Michel Gruppe AG from Meiringen (BE) and the Schibli Group (ZH).
The award winners since 2012 at a glance
At the award ceremony, Metzler & Co AG won the Family Business Award. The company joins the ranks of previous winners: Wilhelm Schmidlin AG (2019), 1a hunkeler fenster AG & 1a hunkeler holzbau AG (2018), Jucker Farm AG (2017), Fraisa SA (2016), Wyon AG (2015), Entreprises et Domaines Rouvinez (2014), SIGA Holding (2013) and Trisa AG (2012).
Pure electric ID.3 for the finalists
All finalists will receive a purely electric VW ID.3 1ST as a prize from AMAG. The ID.3 will accompany the finalists emission-free for one year. The winner also gets to keep the vehicle.
The award ceremony took place at Amag Kreuzlingen. Managing Director Jesus Joga handed over the keys for the vehicle to the brother and sister team Sandro and Alessia Mastroberardino, who are the fourth generation to run the company.
Company family owned since 1911
Metzler & Co. AG, based in Balgach in the St. Gallen Rhine Valley, employs 77 people. The company has been owned by the family since it was founded by Gebhard Metzler in 1911.
In January 2018, Tino and Heidi Mastroberardino-Metzler handed over the management to the fourth generation, the twins Sandro and Alessia Mastroberardino.
Award in honor of Walter Haefner
Amag created the Family Business Award in honor of its founder and patron Walter Haefner, who was committed to a genuine, lived and sustainable corporate culture.
Every year, the award is given to particularly responsible and entrepreneurial Swiss family businesses.
