Around 90 percent of all companies in Switzerland are family businesses. This makes them a significant economic factor. In recognition of this, AMAG launched the Family Business Award in 2012. On the one hand, to honor the entrepreneurial and sustainable values of family businesses. But also in memory of the company's own founder, Walter Haefner.
Registration period runs
Interested companies can apply for this year's award on the online platform until April 30, 2017. The previous winners of the award are: Trisa AG (2012), SIGA Holding AG (2013), Entreprises et Domaines Rouvinez (2014), Wyon AG (2015) and FRAISA SA (2016).
Sustainability in demand
Family businesses are eligible for the award if they are characterized by a sustainable corporate spirit and also employ more than 50 people. In addition, the chairmanship of the board of directors or the operational management must be held by a family member and the majority of the capital must be owned by the family.
Choice by jury
The winning company is selected by a jury of nine experienced and highly qualified individuals. This year, the jury is chaired by Pascale Bruderer-Wyss, member of the Council of States. The judging process was developed by the Center for Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability CCRS at the University of Zurich. This scientific procedure provides the basis for an objective evaluation of the applicants by the independent jury.
