The inspectors from the member clubs, all well-trained specialists, traveled from all over Switzerland, some with their own historic vehicles.
Focus on historic vehicles
The technicians and inspectors were informed by Felix Aschwanden, Head of Technology of the SHVF, about the innovations and future procedures for the creation of FIVA Identity Cards. In the next year some innovations should be put into force. For example, the entire history of the historic vehicle will be documented in the FIVA ID Card. The vehicle passport will thus be more closely linked to the vehicle than to the respective owner.
Centrally managed
In the future, the collected data will be stored centrally, which is why all information can only be provided in English. The presentation also dealt with the correct classification of vehicles as "original", "original type" or "modified". Equally important is the documentation of the manufacturer or constructor, the make and model, the year of construction and the many numbers of chassis, engine, transmission, etc., which should be as complete as possible.
Theory and practice
Groups then practiced on special vehicles, cars and motorcycles at seven stations. The aim was to put theory into practice here as well. Afterwards, there was enough time to answer questions. Every specialist was able to learn something. Veteran vehicles are cultural assets that should be preserved and documented as well as possible, according to the credo and motto of the association. The next SHVF technical seminar will already take place on 27 January 2018.
