This year, the canton of Thurgau received the award. With the recognition award, the Swiss electric mobility association Swiss eMobility honors exemplary framework conditions in the development of electric mobility.

Bonus for the construction of photovoltaic systems
This year, the canton of Thurgau impressed the jury with its well-coordinated support program. The canton of Thurgau supports electric vehicles and charging infrastructure and bases its support program on the use of exclusively renewable electricity.

This is reflected, among other things, in the payment of a bonus for the installation of photovoltaic systems.

Raising awareness among the population
Another important measure that characterizes Thurgau's energy strategy is raising public awareness with experience days on environmentally friendly mobility. The canton's role model function is also part of this.

Various offices of the cantonal administration already have electric vehicles in use. The cantonal buildings are also being equipped with charging stations in order to motivate employees to use electric vehicles privately by providing optimal infrastructure at the workplace.

Highest rate of new registrations
Since the launch of the subsidy program at the beginning of 2019, the proportion of electric cars has risen from 2 to 8.3 percent. This means that the canton of Thurgau has the highest rate of new registrations of battery-electric cars of all cantons in Switzerland.

Cantonal Councillor Walter Schönholzer: "Thanks for this award go to the people of Thurgau. Without open-minded and responsible car buyers, a reduction in CO2 emissions cannot succeed."
