Formula E is part of the DNA of DS Automobiles. This trailer illustrates this.
Since the brand was founded in Paris in 2015, electrification has been at the heart of its development. In addition, DS Automobiles was the first premium manufacturer to enter the FIA Formula E Championship in the 2015/16 season and celebrated its first victory in the opening year. This further strengthened the company's commitment to research and development in the field of e-mobility.
Best solutions according to clear specifications
The Formula E regulations contain special requirements and define, for example, a 900-volt battery for all participants. This means that energy management is crucial, which is one of DS Techeetah's particular strengths. In addition to other important components such as the drive and inverter, software development can also provide a decisive advantage over the competition.
The best solutions are therefore developed throughout the motorsport season. DS Automobiles is the only manufacturer to celebrate victories in every FIA Formula E season. DS Techeetah and Jean-Éric Vergne are currently world champions in the team and driver standings.
Benefit for the series
The expertise gained benefits both the energy management of purely electric and DS plug-in hybrid series vehicles. The optimum set-up is found for each of the brand's series models: Number of gears and transmission ratio, engine type, balance between torque and power.
Put to the test in e-rallying
The DS 3 Crossback E-Tense took on the challenges of motorsport for the first time in spring and took part in the most prestigious rally for purely electrically powered vehicles. The production model won the first special stage in the "Efficiency" category at the Monte Carlo E-Rally with a record-breaking low consumption of 9.55 kWh/100 km.
This record value could not be beaten in the other twelve special stages. The DS 3 Crossback E-Tense thus impressively demonstrated its efficiency in direct comparison with the renowned competition.
In future, the DS 9 with its plug-in hybrid versions will expand the electrified model range of DS Automobiles.
Ready to continue the title defense
Meanwhile, DS Techeetah continues to develop the DS E-Tense FE20. As the leading racing team in the Formula E team standings and with Antonio Felix Da Costa leading the drivers' standings before the lockdown, DS Techeetah is ready to continue the all-electric motorsport series.
