Cupra: The Terramar rolls off the production line in Hungary.
SYNERGY EFFECTS Cupra unveiled the new Terramar in Győr, Hungary, in front of 200 employees from the Audi plant there. The SUV is to be produced here from 2024 together with the Ingolstadt-based company's models.
Cupra boss Wayne Griffiths presented the new model to the employees of Audi Hungaria. Griffiths highlighted the production of the Terramar as an example of the use of synergy effects within the Volkswagen Group.
Audi Hungaria is already producing the engines for the Formentor VZ5, the five-cylinder version of the young Spanish brand's bestseller.
The Formentor, of which more than 80,000 units have been delivered this year, is manufactured in Martorell, Spain, where the Audi A1 is also produced.
First electrified SUV from the Spanish brand
The 4.50-metre-long Terramar is the first electrified SUV from the Cupra brand. It is offered with both combustion engines and a new generation of plug-in hybrid drives, which are intended to offer a range of around 100 kilometers in pure electric mode.
The name Terramar is a tribute to a municipality (Sitges) in the Spanish region of Catalonia, around 36 kilometers southwest of Barcelona. The market launch of the new model is also planned for 2024.
