CES 2020: Audi becomes the third habitat
FEELING GOOD IS EVERYTHING With the "AI:ME," Audi is showing an autonomously driving concept car at the Consumer Electronics Show (until January 10) in Las Vegas. In addition to the home and the workplace. the Audi "AI:ME" is intended to be a third living space.
Passengers can communicate with the show car by eye control and have it order their favorite meal, for example.
Enjoying wellness while driving is also possible: VR glasses let the occupants fly virtually over a mountain landscape. The technology adapts the virtual content to the car's movements in real time.
Personal preferences of the users
The aim is for passengers to arrive relaxed at their destination, where the ordered meal has already been delivered on time - coordinated by "AI:ME" on the basis of the user's personal preferences and the car's navigation data.
Self-learning navigation
Another Audi idea is the "compassionate" car. It knows its user and their habits - and increases safety, well-being and comfort through intelligent functions and the use of artificial intelligence.
Audi already offers self-learning navigation in its current MMI systems. It stores preferred destinations, links them with the date, time and current traffic situation and derives route suggestions from this.
Driving style and vital signs
In the future, the car will also analyze which functions and settings its user prefers - from the seat position to media content and temperature to the scenting of the interior. After a short time, the empathetic Audi then implements the preferred settings independently.
If desired, it also takes into account the user's condition by monitoring driving style and vital signs.
Novel head-up display
A navigation arrow that points exactly to the side street where the destination is located: This will be implemented with the 3-D mixed-reality head-up display later this year. Audi is demonstrating the new technology developed with Samsung.
As with a 3-D television, two views of each image are generated: one pixel for the left eye and the adjacent one for the right eye. For the driver, the images of the novel head-up display appear to float at a distance of eight to ten meters.
With a clever display, the apparent distance even grows to over 70 meters. Advantage: The eyes, focused on distance vision, do not have to adjust.
Well-being through light colors
At CES 2020, the company will also be showing the latest developments in ambient lighting. If the driver is tired, special light can provide relief: Blue, cool-white light, for example, has an invigorating, activating effect.
Audi's "Human Centric Lighting" project shows how well-being can be influenced by targeted light colors, supporting concentration and memory, for example.
