Carrosserie Suisse: New name for the anniversary

CHANGE AND FUTURE VSCI has become Carrosserie Suisse. The French-speaking Swiss association had already changed its name some time ago. This year, the Swiss Carrossiers are celebrating their 100th anniversary. The Carrossiers celebrated the occasion with a forum on the topic of "Mobility of the Future". The carrossiers celebrated the occasion with a forum on the topic of "Mobility of the Future". In the presence of TCS Central President Peter Götschi, Erik Paul Papinski, President of the international carrosserie association AIRC, AGVS Central President Urs Wernli, Wolfgang Schinagl, CEO of Auto-i-dat AG, and Enzo Santarsiero, CEO of André Koch AG, experts and connoisseurs of the scene discussed.

Mobility for the following generations
The location for the forum, the congress center at the Museum of Transport in Lucerne, could not have been more fitting: While experts discussed and philosophized about scenarios for future mobility, hundreds of schoolchildren and young people scurried through the halls of the Museum of Transport, proving by their presence and interest alone that mobility will remain a basic need for future generations - whether conventionally with the steering wheel in their hands and their feet on the pedals or in autonomous flying drones.

Drones are no substitute for automobiles
Peter Lenhart of the School of Engineering thought it unlikely that drones will replace the automobile on wheels in the near (or distant) future: "Where will we find space for takeoff and landing pads? They won't replace the car, but rather today's helicopters - as long as they're quieter and more economical."

Growth in electrified vehicles
Jörg Beckmann, Director of the TCS Mobility Academy and Managing Director of Swiss E-Mobility, summarized his findings on future megatrends in mobility under the slogan E6: Decarbonization, Deprivatization, Demotorization in urban areas, Deglobalization, Dematerialization and Deceleration. Jörg Beckmann: "While in Switzerland around five percent of all new cars sold currently have a plug, purely electric or as a plug-in hybrid, in Norway this proportion is already 50 percent. A massive increase can also be expected in Switzerland over the next few years."

Difficulties delay start of production
Oliver Ouboter COO of Microlino AG, which wants to shake up the market with purely electric vehicles, reported on the difficulties and background of the start of production. The partner company with which Oliver Ouboter wanted to produce his Microlino, which was presented as a prototype at the Geneva Motor Show in 2016, is apparently launching a similar product. Oliver Ouboter: "Nevertheless, we are confident that our Microlino will be seen on the roads this year."
Whether electric or conventionally powered by a combustion engine, Felix Wyss, president of Carrosserie Suisse, considers the risk of his professional colleagues running out of work to be low: "I believe in us humans."
