This year, the election took place under special conditions. Instead of the usual opening event on the press days of the Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS), the ceremony was broadcast as a pure livestream on the Internet, as was already the case in 2020.
Important recognition for the development teams

Third victory for a model of the Japanese brand
The voting result of the finalists: Toyota Yaris 266 points, Fiat New 500 (240), Cupra Formentor (239), Volkswagen ID.3., (224), Škoda Octavia (199),Land Rover Defender (164) and Citroën C4 (143).
Toyota has received the award three times. The Yaris won in 2000, the Prius in 2005, and the Yaris again in 2021.
