Handcuffs for too much alcohol
Countries are also tough on drivers under the influence of alcohol, with Italy leading the way: at 1.5 per mille in the blood, the police can expropriate the vehicle if the driver and owner are identical. In Denmark there is a similar regulation from 2.0 per mille. In Sweden and Spain, the handcuffs even click at 1.0 and 1.2 per mille respectively.

Discounts in Italy, France and Spain
Making phone calls at the wheel without a hands-free device can also put a heavy strain on vacation budgets. The Netherlands, Great Britain and Denmark in particular have no mercy when it comes to this administrative offense. The demands are around 200 euros.
Parking violators can also expect no leniency. Incorrect parking is particularly costly in Spain (up to 200 euros) and the Netherlands (95 euros), Cyprus (85 euros) and Denmark (70 euros). For comparison: In Germany, the price starts at 10 euros.
If the parking ticket comes from abroad, motorists should pay it as quickly as possible. Italy, France and Spain, for example, sometimes offer high discounts for immediate payment.
