Insignia GSi
The front apron of the Opel Insignia GSi features a very special striking saber-tooth look.

After the sedan (Grand Sport) and the station wagon (Sports Tourer) were already shown in December 2019, Opel is now releasing images and info on the sporty GSi. There are also details of the new engines.

Front skirts with saber tooth look
The facelift of the Insignia GSi Sports Tourer is most easily recognizable by the cross slat in the grille, which is now straight instead of curved like a mustache. The GSi version stands out from the other variants thanks to the vertical air vents in saber-tooth look and the special front apron.

Two-liter turbo gasoline engine with 230 hp
While the car was previously powered by a 210 hp biturbo diesel, the new version has a two-liter turbo gasoline engine with 230 hp under the hood. Maximum torque is 350 Newton meters, which is available at 1,500 to 4,000 rpm.

At low load, the variable camshaft control deactivates two cylinders. The engine is part of a new family that Opel is now introducing in the Insignia facelift, and which was still developed under the aegis of General Motors.

New transmission with nine gears
The eight-speed automatic is replaced by a new nine-speed transmission. In addition, the model has an electrohydraulic brake booster, a mechatronic Flexride suspension and a Twinster all-wheel drive with torque vectoring. Opel quotes fuel consumption at 6.9 liters.

Insignia GSi
The Opel Insignia GSi is available as an estate or sedan. Both versions offer plenty of cargo space.

Sporty adapted all-wheel drive
The sport-tuned all-wheel drive with torque vectoring, which can be activated at the push of a button, is unique in this segment. With 4×4 drive, two clutches replace a conventional rear axle differential.

This technology is intended to make the car turn in more agilely and provide good lateral control and traction. If the all-wheel drive is switched off, the drive is provided purely via the front wheels in the most economical way.

Dynamically optimized chassis
The new nine-speed automatic transmission can also be controlled with the shift paddles. The dynamically tuned chassis is said to offer an extremely high level of grip. The red-painted Brembo four-piston brakes and the steering have been further improved.

Inside, the fast Blitz is trimmed for sportiness. The seats provide perfect lateral support.

Braking effect and pedal feel
An electrohydraulic brake booster increases braking efficiency and improves pedal feel. In addition, noise generation during braking is minimized - a comfort plus especially in stop & go traffic.

Exclusive mode Competition
Driving can choose between Standard, Tour, Sport and - exclusive to the GSi - Competition. The accelerator pedal curve, the shift points of the automatic transmission, the steering and the shock absorbers are influenced.

The Insignia GSi comes with a "mechatronic" Flexride suspension as standard. It adapts the shock absorbers and steering in a fraction of a second.
