Bernhard Gerstert, who headed the course for many years, held the following management positions at BFH: on the one hand that of the department, which Peter Affolter will take over, and on the other that of the Laboratory for Vehicle Mechanics and Safety, for which Raphael Murri will be responsible.

Sustainable and automated mobility
Peter Affolter has been a professor of vehicle electrics and electronics at Bern University of Applied Sciences since November 2014. Since August 2015, he has also been Head of the Institute for Energy and Mobility Research and is researching solutions to the technical challenges of sustainable and automated mobility of the future.

Electrification of niche vehicles
He has played a key role in the electrification of several niche vehicles, including the world's largest electric pneumatic vehicle. In the field of autonomous driving, he and his team developed the sh@ttle vehicle, which serves as a learning and research platform.
