With top marks for the new Arteon, Volkswagen also achieved excellent results in the latest Euro NCAP crash test series. The award recognizes not only occupant protection, but also the standard assistance systems and especially the area of pedestrian protection.
Best rating ever
Thanks to its standard emergency braking function for pedestrians, among other things, it received the highest rating ever awarded in the upper mid-range segment. The very good performance is the result of an integrated safety concept that ensures maximum protection in the event of a collision with optimized body structures and a highly effective seat belt, seat and airbag system. The particularly high rating of 85 percent in the "pedestrian protection" category is achieved by the combination of the standard emergency braking function on pedestrians and the high passive protection potential of unprotected road users.
Safety first
The new Arteon has been available to order in Switzerland since March and comes with extensive safety equipment as standard. This includes airbags for the driver and front passenger (with passenger airbag deactivation and knee airbag on the driver's side) as well as a head airbag system for front and outboard rear passengers including side airbags at the front. In addition, head restraints that minimize the risk of neck injury in the event of a rear-end collision and the occupant protection system, which detects critical situations with increased accident potential, tightens the fastened front seat belts and closes open windows or sunroof to a crack, are standard features on board.
