As the leading representative of the Volkswagen and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles brands in the Basel region, Grosspeter AG has consistently invested in the further development of its garage operations in recent years.
With a view to securing the long-term future of the business and its employees, the current owners have found a buyer in Amag Automobil und Motoren AG.
A traditional company in the region for 88 years
Grosspeter AG has been anchored in the region for 88 years and has attractive locations. With the acquisition, Amag Automobil und Motoren AG completes its presence in the Basel area.
In addition to the existing Audi, Seat and Škoda brands, Amag will now also represent VW and VW Commercial Vehicles in this region. The operations in Basel and Muttenz will be taken over and continued.
The sites in Füllinsdorf and Rheinfelden will be integrated into the existing Amag operations.
Focus on mobility for the clientele
Nothing will change for Grosspeter customers, who can continue to count on the well-established Grosspeter teams.
Mathias Gabler, Managing Director Amag Retail: "Even though the Grosspeter name is being discontinued after 88 years now, we are doing everything we can to continue to provide satisfactory services for customers and to take care of their mobility needs competently."
Transition activities begin as early as January
From April onwards, in addition to the Muttenz and Basel plants, services for VW and VW commercial vehicles will also be offered at the Amag Retail locations in Rheinfelden and Liestal, and service for Volkswagen at the Basel Dreispitz location. The transition activities from Grosspeter to Amag will begin as early as January.
