Surveys indicate that listeners need more time to make the switch - especially owners of older vehicles.

The plan called for SRG SSR radio stations to stop broadcasting in analog from August 2022 and for private radio stations to switch to DAB+ by January 2023 at the latest.

Now, this switchover will not take place until December 2024 because the radio stations could not agree on a nationwide solution.

Interesting additional business and training courses
While virtually all new cars are equipped with digital DAB+ reception today, it is still missing in around 40 percent of the existing vehicle fleet. Accordingly, there is considerable market potential for the garage owner.

In order to be among the DAB+ upgrade specialists with a certificate of competence, the Swiss Association of the Automotive Trade (AGVS) supports its members with a corresponding training course in which DAB+ technology and all DAB+ networks are explained. In addition, it is shown how the DAB+ upgrade solutions are professionally installed in the various models.

Dates in German-speaking Switzerland until December
Participants in the courses will also learn how to sell a DAB+ retrofit to customers. The next courses will be held at STFW in Winterthur (October 8, 2021), Mobilcity in Bern (November 2, 2021), and the AGVS Course Center in Lenzburg (December 15, 2021).
