AutoEnergyCheck: 80,000 tons less!

This amount of greenhouse gas carbon dioxide would be produced if a car circumnavigated the world 12,000 times.
Background: Despite the growing market share of electric vehicles, more than 95 percent of all car owners in Switzerland still drive a combustion engine. To ensure that these 4.6 million petrol and diesel cars also drive in a sustainable and climate-friendly manner, there is the AutoEnergieCheck.
Savings of up to 240 liters
With the AEC, Swiss motorists, together with the garage dealers of the Auto Gewerbe Verband Schweiz, are making a contribution to environmental protection and saving money at the same time. Over 1000 AGVS garages are AEC-certified and offer this service.
The 20-minute check has the potential to save up to 240 liters of fuel per car per year. Even at the current low prices of petrol and diesel, this can save over 300 francs a year.
Check on around 70,000 vehicles
The AutoEnergieCheck is largely supported by EnergieSchweiz, the energy-saving program of the Swiss Federal Office of Energy, the Quality Alliance Eco-Drive and the insurer AXA. Since its launch in 2012, the certified AEC garagists have carried out the check on around 70,000 vehicles.
This results in an average saving of 1.14 tons of CO2 per car, which adds up to a total of 80,000 tons.
Increasing energy efficiency
Markus Peter, who is responsible for technology and the environment at AGVS: "This increase in energy efficiency also means that vehicle owners in Switzerland have been able to save over 30 million liters of fuel and therefore around 50 million francs."
