Auto Zürich: Ferrari celebrates birthday and Sportec presents Ferdinand 🎥
WHERE TO MEET Never before has the Auto Zürich Car Show been as diverse as this year. In addition to many new products, the focus is on classic cars, and sim racers demonstrate how to race virtually.
Auto Zürich 2022 will be held together with Auto Zürich Classic from November 10 to 13 in the halls of Messe Zürich in Oerlikon. 50 brands show more than 80 novelties. World premieres will be celebrated by Caterham Seven 340 with 170 hp and Sportec with Project Ferdinand.
The European premieres are the Dacia Bigster Concept, Honda Civic Type R, Hyundai Ionic 6, Koenigsegg CC850 and Mitsubishi ASX. Lotus will make its Swiss comeback at Auto Zürich. The British company will be showing its Eletre electric SUV and the Emira sports car.
Choice of drive types and suppliers
In contrast to the sometimes declining exhibitor numbers at international car shows, the 35th Auto Zürich can once again report a significant increase in brands and innovations. The topic of electromobility will certainly once again become a strong pillar of the trade show. The "ev experience" is transforming into a cross-brand advice center for those interested in electric vehicles. In addition, accompanied test drives with e-cars will be offered in the open area in front of the main entrance.
The transformation of the automotive industry through alternative drive systems and digitalization is also having an impact on Auto Zürich, which deliberately presents the entire spectrum of drive types and suppliers on an equal footing.
Red jubilee and premiere of Ferdinand
In addition to the show's anniversary, a second birthday will also attract many fans. The Niki Hasler AG team will be bringing automotive legends of the brand such as an F40 and other exhibits, including Michael Schumacher's 1996 F310, to the show in Zurich for Ferrari's 75th.
Tuning specialist Sportec provides a special world premiere with Ferdinand (video and gallery above center). This is not about a new employee, but about tuning based on a Porsche 964. At the customer's request, a very personal version is created on the platform of the model. One can be curious.
Urs Erbacher has also lent a hand to a Porsche. The celebrated dragster king has this to say about his project: "Our conversions (galleries at top left) are based on the air-cooled 911. With the Porsche 964, Porsche has reinvented the original 911 once again. For us, it's the best 911 there ever was."
Emil Frey Racing in action and virtual finals
Racing fans will get their money's worth at the Emil Frey stand (top right gallery). The racing team is showing one of the three Lamborghinis that raced this year in the GT3 series ADAC GT Masters and GT World Cup Challenge.
If you want to experience how the Porsche Esports Carrera Cup Suisse (gallery below left) and the TCR Swiss Series powered by Honda (gallery below center) virtually fight for meters and points (galleries below right), you should not miss the finals of these series.
