Auto Zürich 2019: Clean future with CNG

IMPORTANT WEEK Climate change affects us all. That's why sustainable forms of mobility are in demand. At the Auto Zürich Car Show (October 31 to November 1), "gazenergie" will be showing the mobility of the future. At the show in Oerlikon, "gazenergie" is giving away a Skoda Kamiq G-Tec worth 35,000 Swiss francs. The crossover with CNG drive already enables [...]

The Skoda Kamiq G-Tec with CNG drive already enables virtually CO2-free mobility.

At the trade fair in Oerlikon, "gazenergie" is giving away a Skoda Kamiq G-Tec worth 35,000 Swiss francs. The CNG-powered crossover already enables virtually CO2-free mobility. You can win the car at the "gazenergie" stand in the entrance hall: Pick up your entry cards from Skoda or "gazenergie", fill them in completely and put them in the competition box!

Less nitrogen oxide and soot particles
The Skoda can be seen as a Swiss premiere in the CNG version. The three-cylinder engine of the Kamiq G-TEC produces 90 hp, offers a lot of driving pleasure and impresses with low pollutant emissions. The reason: CNG (which stands for Compressed Natural Gas) does not cause any particulate matter and emits little nitrogen oxide and hardly any soot particles.

Reduction of CO2 emissions
The natural gas/biogas mix offered at Swiss filling stations reduces CO2 emissions by up to 40 percent compared with conventional fuels such as gasoline and diesel. When refueled with 100 percent biogas, CNG is virtually CO2-free.

Natural gas can be refueled as a fuel around the clock at more than 140 stations in Switzerland.

Potential of natural gas and biogas
30 percent of CO2 emissions in Switzerland come from road traffic. Natural gas and biogas have enormous potential to massively reduce emissions of this greenhouse gas. With biogas, produced in Switzerland from waste materials, Switzerland has its own sources.

Power-to-gas also provides the technology for the synthetic production of methane as a fuel for CNG vehicles. This means that surplus electricity generated in the summer can be stored as methane in the Swiss gas grid. An interactive model at the "gazenergie" booth at Auto Zürich shows all the processes involved in producing renewable gas.

Models of different brands
In addition to "gazenergie", Amag will also be showing a selection from its ever-expanding range of models: the VW Polo TGI and the Seat Arona TGI will be on display in Hall 7, and the Skoda Kamiq G-Tec will be on display at the "gazenergie" stand.
