Auction: Rolls-Royce for a good cause
CHARITY ACTION The car that transported Queen frontman Freddie Mercury will be auctioned by RM Sotheby's. The proceeds will support the charity organization Superhumans of Ukraine needy people.
The auction house RM Sotheby's will put Freddie Mercury's personal car, a 1974 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow, up for auction. The celebrated singer of the rock band Queen bought the car in 1974 to be chauffeured in it, because he never had a driver's license himself. After his death in 1991, Freddie's sister took over the Rolls-Royce.
Financial injection for the construction of a hospital
With the sale of this vehicle, RM now offers the unique opportunity to acquire a piece of rock history and at the same time support the organization Superhumans of Ukraine. The financial injection will benefit the construction of a hospital in the province of Lviv. There, 3000 patients should be able to be treated annually.
The Silver Shadow was delivered in 1974 in the body color Silver Chalice and with blue interior and the registration number WLX 293M. Its authenticity is confirmed by former girlfriend Mary Austin and band manager Jim Beach. The latter also knows that the car was taken over by Freddie's sister Kashmira Cook in 2003.
