2017: A good start for Suzuki

Suzuki Automobile Schweiz AG is celebrating a start to the year on a high note. The company registered a total of 1860 vehicles in Switzerland in the first quarter of 2017. Compared to the previous year, this represents an increase of over ten percent. Sales worldwide also increased.
New models successful
Among other things, the new Suzuki Ignis, available since the beginning of the year as the first micro-SUV on the Swiss market, made an important contribution to this. But the Japanese manufacturer is also on course for success worldwide: in Japan, sales rose by 8.3 percent to 113,534 vehicles in the first two months. In particular, the launch of the new Suzuki Swift compact vehicle and the new generation of the Suzuki Wagon R kei car boosted sales figures in Japan. This applies both to the minicars, which are very popular there, and to the conventional vehicle segments.
European version
As of now, the European version of the new Swift is also rolling along Swiss roads. In addition to increased production at plants outside Japan, exports from the home country - to Europe, for example - also climbed to 27,280 units in the same period. This represents an increase of a whopping 73.7 percent. But Suzuki is also benefiting from increased demand in Europe: In the EU countries alone, the brand recorded a 33.4 percent increase in registrations to 34,192 units in January and February, according to the manufacturers' association ACEA.
