At Climate Week in New York, Lucas di Grassi promoted electromobility and explained the role of Formula E.

Lucas di Grassi represented the all-electric racing series at International Climate Week, which follows the UN Climate Change Conference and runs until Sunday. The Brazilian has been an official United Nations ambassador for clean air since 2018.

 Ideal opportunity for electromobility
Away from the race track, the Audi works driver and Formula E champion of the 2016/2017 season is passionately committed to the transformation of mobility and the special role that electric vehicles play in it. As a representative of Formula E, di Grassi now set out his thoughts in a keynote address in New York.

Lucas di Grassi: "I helped shape Formula E a few years ago because it was clear to me that electric cars would be the future - on the road and on the racetrack. Driving new technologies forward and getting people excited about how important electromobility is for the climate and our health is a big concern for me. Events like Climate Week here in New York are ideal opportunities to keep the issue high on the agenda. I'm proud to be able to do my part."

Together with Daniel Abt, Lucas di Grassi has been competing for Team Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler in Formula E since 2014. On November 22 and 23, the series' most successful duo will enter its sixth season at the season opener in Diriyah (Saudi Arabia).

Innovations to protect the climate and the environment
Together with the Volkswagen Group, Audi is one of the first car manufacturers to commit to the Paris climate agreement. The company has set itself the ambitious goal of reducing vehicle-specific CO2-emissions by 30 percent by 2025 - compared to the reference year 2015 and along the entire product life cycle.

In addition, the company is involved in the development of greenovations - innovations to protect the climate and the environment. One promising technology, for example, is the CO2-Capturing, a process for extracting carbon dioxide from the air. Audi has already installed such a plant near Zurich.

In the long term, Audi is pursuing the vision of CO2-neutral mobility and aims to become carbon-neutral throughout the company by 2050.
