An electric motor positioned on the rear axle provides 465 kW and 750 Nm of power for the Skysphere.
With the Skysphere Concept vehicle, Audi shows how luxury will be defined in the future. It is no longer just about driving, but also about fascinating experiences. To give passengers maximum freedom, the car was designed for the two driving experiences Grand Touring Experience and Sports Experience.
An almost revolutionary technical detail is used here: the variable wheelbase. Electric motors and a sophisticated mechanism make it possible to vary the wheelbase itself and the outer length by 250 millimeters.
Drive or just let drive
With a reduced wheelbase, the driver can steer the 4.94-meter-long e-roadster himself in Sports mode - the rear-wheel steering ensures good agility.
In Grand Touring driving mode, however, it can also be chauffeured in the 5.19-meter GT. The steering wheel and pedals have then moved into an invisible range.
From 0 to 100 km/h in four seconds
The Skysphere will make its public debut on August 13 as part of Monterey Car Week on the lawn of the Pebble Beach golf course. The appearance in California is almost a home game, as the concept car was designed at the Malibu Design Studio.
Studio manager Gael Buzyn and his team are responsible for the design. The Horch 853 roadster, a classic from the company's own history, served as a source of inspiration.
This allows the 1800-kilogram roadster to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in four seconds. The battery modules are located behind the cabin and between the seats in the center tunnel.
500 kilometers with one battery charge
Thanks to more than 80 kWh capacity, the concept Audi travels more than 500 kilometers on one battery charge. The adaptive air suspension ensures that the chassis is adjusted to all driving conditions.
The Grandsphere and Urbansphere concept cars will soon be added to the Skysphere family.
