Ampere: Three brands under one roof
E-AUTOS AND SOFTWARE Renault, Nissan and Mitsubishi have redefined their alliance and are planning further cooperation. The Ampere business unit founded by Renault plays a central role in electromobility.
With the creation of Ampere, the first European pure player in electric vehicles and software, Renault is driving forward the third stage of its Renaulution strategic plan. The company's aim is to become the European market leader for electric cars. This is to be achieved by introducing affordable models with the latest software for a broad customer base. Ampere is building on the Renault Group's 15 years of experience in the field of electromobility. Nissan has invested 600 million euros and Mitsubishi 200 million euros in Ampere. The electric Nissan Micra will be one of the first products to be developed by Ampere.
Development of the solid-state battery
In addition, Nissan and Renault are stepping up their joint projects in South America and India, where the two partners plan to launch up to eight new models in the coming years. Nissan is also leading the alliance in the development of the solid-state battery, which can be used as an energy storage system in the alliance's vehicles by the end of the decade. In the meantime, Mitsubishi is continuing to focus on the acquisition of Renault models in Europe and is planning a collaboration with Nissan in the USA in order to expand its model range.
