Morten Hannesbo, CEO of Amag, answered questions from the learners in a livestream.

With over 700 apprentices (around eleven percent of all employees), Amag is one of the largest training centers in Switzerland. The company currently trains apprentices in ten different professions.

Challenge through the crisis
At the beginning of their apprenticeship, newcomers usually attend the one-day Welcome Camp. There they get to know the other apprentices and learn everything they need to know to get started.

Only this year things are to be different, because Corona has also presented new challenges for vocational training. It was therefore decided to hold the 2020 introductory event in a digital setting.

Studio at the headquarters of Amag
This is how CEO Morten Hannesbo welcomed the apprentices via screen. And he did so from a specially equipped studio at Amag's headquarters in Cham with various cameras, a control room and interpreters who translated live for the participants from French-speaking Switzerland and Ticino.

Interactive digital exchange
The learners were not all able to meet in person and listen to the speakers live. Nevertheless, a good atmosphere was created, which was also felt during the interactive digital exchange during the event.

Morten Hannesbo: "The young people are naturally digitally affine. I sensed that during the livestream. The apprentices submitted questions via cell phone, which we answered directly. I'm impressed by how quickly vocational training has adapted to the new circumstances in the post-Corona period, and how well the learners have also adapted to working in the new normal in their first week."
