In the presence of more than 260 guests from politics and business, the Hunkeler family was delighted to receive this year's Family Business Award at a ceremony in the Kursaal Bern. For the family business from Ebikon in Lucerne, which is now in its eighth generation, the focus is not on short-term results but on long-term success.
For them, the spirit of innovation and a sense of tradition are not a contradiction in terms - they are symbols of the company's development. With currently more than 60 employees and apprentices, 1a hunkeler achieves top performance in timber and window construction.
A VW Arteon to drive and keep
Of around 2,500 companies contacted, 50 to 60 showed an interest in participating. In the end, 17 submitted a comprehensive dossier for assessment. The winners were selected by an independent jury consisting of ten personalities from the Swiss economy.
All three of this year's finalists received a certificate attesting to their particularly sustainable entrepreneurial activities. They will also receive a new VW Arteon R-Line, which will accompany the finalists for a year.
The highlight: as this year's winning company, 1a hunkeler fenster AG & 1a hunkeler holzbau AG can also keep the vehicle.
In honor of Walter Haefner
AMAG created the Family Business Award in honor of its founder and patron Walter Haefner. He was always committed to a genuine, active and sustainable corporate culture.
The award recognizes particularly responsible and entrepreneurial family businesses in Switzerland. The award also aims to draw attention to the great economic importance of family businesses in Switzerland.
