Aiways: U6ion concept coupe goes on tour
MADE IN CHINA The new U6ion SUV coupe shows a preview of the second electric model from Aiways, which will soon go into production. Its exterior aims to hint at sportiness with powerful lines and a fastback roof.
Electric car manufacturer Aiways, headquartered in Shanghai, has started a roadshow through Europe with its U6ion concept car. The SUV coupe started the tour in Antwerp and will visit another eight European countries. The Swiss date has not yet been set.
U6ion is a foretaste of the U6
Interested parties will then have the opportunity to get to know the U6ion. The model provides a foretaste of the new U6, which is due to be launched on the European market later this year.
Alexander Klose, Vice President Overseas Operations, says: "Look forward to the production model, whose exterior almost matches that of the study. With the Aiways U6 coming out at the end of the year, we're showing that the brand is alive and well and we're keeping our promise that we'll release a new model every year."
Large-capacity coupé with fastback glass roof
The U6ion was designed as a large-capacity coupe. The fastback-style roof comes with a glass surface that ends in a sharp-edged C-pillar. The LED headlights are paired with a daytime running light system that also includes position lights and turn signals.
Under each headlight is an independent air intake that directs a stream of cooling air to the braking system. At the rear of the vehicle is a two-tone spoiler that emphasizes the vehicle's sleek design. The 21-inch sports wheels are not only eye-catchers, they also ensure good heat dissipation.
Completely new electrical world in the interior
The rectangular multifunction sports steering wheel in the airy interior gives the impression of the car's capabilities. Behind the steering wheel is a free-floating 7-inch instrument panel that provides all the driving and system information for the driver.
The racing-style door handles complement the four integrated sports seats. For rear passengers, there are safety handles on the back of the front seats. To control the multimedia system, the U6ion has a floating 14.6-inch touchscreen positioned centrally on the dashboard.
