CAR OF THE FUTURE Individual mobility is undergoing fundamental change. The 4,000 garages affiliated to the Auto Gewerbe Verband Schweiz (AGVS) are facing up to this dynamic. AGVS
Urs Wernli was confirmed in his office as Central President for another three years. Andri Zisler, President of the AGVS Graubünden Section, was newly elected to the Central Board. He succeeds Kurt Aeschlimann, who has resigned.

At the 41st AGVS Delegates' Meeting in Neuchâtel, Central President Urs Wernli, who was confirmed in office for another three years, was able to look back on a solid year: "It is foreseeable that cars will be shared in the future. Drive concepts are becoming more diverse and alternative drives such as electromobility are gaining market share. The combustion engine is far from being obsolete. On the one hand, combustion engines are becoming more efficient all the time. On the other hand, although electromobility is showing strong growth rates, it will still take many years before a vehicle fleet of 6 million is electrified."

The importance of the auto industry is underestimated
One in eight jobs in Switzerland depends directly or indirectly on cars. This overall economic importance of the automotive industry is still underestimated. This is one of the reasons why the Swiss Garages Association is increasingly campaigning at the political level for business-friendly framework conditions, for a functioning road infrastructure and for environmental protection with a sense of proportion. Urs Wernli: "The free entrepreneur must not be hindered by more and more regulations and bureaucracy."

Tackling the changing times with courage and verve
In the struggle for skilled workers, Swiss garage owners rely on the dual education system and the recognized high quality of vocational training. The automotive industry, with its great dynamism, continues to offer ambitious, well-trained professionals excellent prospects. Urs Wernli: "Even in the storm of digitalization, people remain the decisive factor. We must tackle the changing times with courage and verve."
