volvo 2019
Volvo Cars already offers a number of its vehicles with "Twin engine". From 2019, there will no longer be a Volvo vehicle without an electric drive.

The Swedish vehicle manufacturer in Chinese hands is thus heralding a farewell to vehicles equipped exclusively with an internal combustion engine. More than 100 years after the invention of the combustion engine, a new chapter in automotive history is being opened.

Various models planned
Accordingly, the company plans to offer electrically powered vehicles across its entire model range: pure electric vehicles, plug-in hybrid models and vehicles with mild hybrids. Five electric cars - three Volvo models and two high-performance electric vehicles from Volvo's Polestar performance brand - will be introduced between 2019 and 2021. These will be complemented by a range of diesel and gasoline plug-in hybrids and 48-volt mild hybrid variants.

Future prospects
This means the end of the car powered exclusively by the combustion engine," explained Håkan Samuelsson when presenting the concept. "We have already announced that we want to sell a total of one million electrified vehicles by 2025- this is how we intend to achieve this goal."

CO2 neutral
The announcement underscores Volvo's intention to minimize harmful impacts on the environment and make the cities of the future cleaner. Volvo is working to reduce CO2 emissions from both its products and operations: Volvo also aims to achieve the goal of climate-neutral production by 2025.
