Mercedes: Midsize class comes with new diesel

Mercedes is recognizably on the right track. In two decades, the average consumption of the passenger car fleet has fallen from 9.2 liters per 100 kilometers (230 g/km CO2) to 5.0 liters (125 g/km CO2) - in other words, almost by half. Today, 68 models from Stuttgart already emit less than 120 g/km of CO2. And 108 models carry the efficiency label A+ or A. [...]

And it goes on. The new OM 654 four-cylinder diesel marks the start of a pioneering engine family at Mercedes. Its efficiency and emission values underscore the central role played by the drive system in achieving the global climate targets. The first all-aluminum diesel four-cylinder from Mercedes-Benz will celebrate its world premiere as the E 220 d in the new E-Class in spring 2016. Prices for Switzerland have not yet been set.
