Auto Zürich: Mitsubishi ASX celebrates European premiere

NEXT GENERATION Switzerland's largest auto show, Auto Zürich, is the ideal place to present a new product. One of the European premieres is the ASX from Mitsubishi, which can be seen at the Messe Zürich.

Mitsubishi ASX
The Mitsubishi ASX this year is one of the important novelties at Auto Zurich.

Before the new edition of the ASX hits dealerships next March as a mild hybrid, full hybrid or plug-in hybrid, with a host of driver assistance systems and infotainment features, the compact SUV can be examined in the halls of the Oerlikon show from November 10 to 13, 2022.

The new Mitsubishi ASX (Active Sports X-over) succeeds the previous generation model, of which almost 380,000 units were sold in Europe. The new model, which will roll off the production line at the Renault plant in Valladolid, Spain, was developed specifically for the European market and is based on the CMF-B platform of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance.

Characteristic Dynamic Shield front
The ASX wears Mitsubishi's characteristic Dynamic Shield front end, which is intended to convey robustness and dynamism. In the side profile, the silhouette with high shoulders and the large 17- or 18-inch wheels stand out. There is a choice of six paint colors from market launch, which can be combined with a black roof in the higher equipment versions.

Smartphone is the main interface
Entry to the ASX is hands-free thanks to the keyless operation system. The interior offers a choice of cloth or leather trim, and standard air conditioning keeps the interior temperature comfortable, while heated seats and a heated steering wheel provide comfort in the winter months.

The Smartphone Link Display Audio (SDA) forms the main interface between the driver, vehicle systems and infotainment system. The SDA is available in landscape or portrait format and features smartphone connectivity as standard. The ASX has a cargo volume of 332 liters, which can be expanded by an additional 69 liters by sliding the rear seat bench forward.

Three hybrids and three driving modes to choose from
Powertrain options include a 1.3-liter mild hybrid version with a 6-speed manual transmission or 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, or a 1.6-liter full hybrid powertrain with two electric motors and a multi-mode automatic transmission.

The plug-in hybrid version is also equipped with a 1.6-liter gasoline engine and two electric motors as well as a powerful 10.5-kWh battery. The SDA controls the Multi-Sense system, which allows the driver to select three driving modes with the Eco, Pure and Sport programs.
